The Linn County Early Childhood Iowa Board invites community members and elected officials to be an active partner in early childhood system by serving as a Board member. The primary role of the local Board is to award federal and state funds to early childhood programs that serve young children, ages prenatal thru 5 years, and their families in Linn County. Other duties include assessing community needs and communicating with legislators and the community on the importance of quality early childhood. This is not a fundraising board.
The Board meets the 4th Tuesday of the month from 3:30-5:00 pm. Board terms are for 3 years. Applications for Board Membership will be accepted through May 3, 2013. The Linn County Early Childhood Iowa Board was authorized in 1998 to receive early childhood funding from the State legislature. Local programs receive funds to provide parent education, in-home family support, full-day child care, part-day preschool, child health care services and behavioral supports. The Board’s vision is that every child will have access to quality services empowering them to be healthy and successful.
